Telling the sex of your budgie is done by the cere (fleshy part above the beak)

Young budgies under the age of 4months old will have a purplish pink coloured cere until after its first molt so they will look like females until then.

 

 Baby Budgie has a purplish pink cere and has barring on the crown of the head adults lose the barring.

 Male and Female the male has a blue cere and blue teardrops on the cheeks and the female has a cream coloured cere and grey teardrops on the cheeks.
